Full Program

21,22 & 28 September

Conference - Art + Tech Masterclasses

Saturday 21 & Sunday 22 September

Venue: St. Andrew’s Anglican College (Learning Hub), Peregian Springs

Registration 9am (21/9)
Starts: 9.30am
Ends: 4.30pm

Two days of hands-on Immersive Art+Tech Masterclasses + Networking event

Masterclasses taught by three world-class creatives:

Program - Day 1

Explore the steps involved in creating an immersive application and see just how simple it is to bring your ideas to life and wow people using Augmented & Virtual Reality (AR/VR).

You’ll explore Google Tiltbrush, Oculus Medium, Blender, Photoshop and After Effects to create dynamic 2D and 3D assets. You’ll learn how to combine images, modeling and animation in EyeJack, Vuforia and Unity – and how these elements can be combined and activated using AR or VR.

You will then introduce yourself to the group, identify your interests, and break into ‘development’ teams. You’ll start planning your immersive application / experience – working with supplied materials, or your own ideas; with lots of guidance from your three world-class facilitators (Helena Papageorgiou, Charles Henden, Craig Bowler).

Networking event – Saturday evening! Details to be announced.

Program - Day 2

Warm up your imagination with lessons in VR painting and sculpting, and make a simple AR marker. Then reassemble into teams, and continue building your immersive project.

In the afternoon, you’ll bring it all together to finalise your project. End the workshop with teams sharing their VR / AR experiences, discussing what you’ve learned and pick up tips from other teams!

Software info

Software in use during Day 1+2 will include: Blender, Photoshop CC (2013 and later), After Effects, Unity, Google Tiltbrush, Oculus Medium, EyeJack Creator (AR app), Vuforia (AR).

If you’re new to 3D design software, we suggest you watch a few introductory YouTube / Lynda.com tutorials about Photoshop CC (design) and After Effects (animation) before the conference. Free access is available to Lynda.com learning portal for all SC and Noosa Library cardholders. Free 7-day trials are available for Photoshop CC and After Effects. Blender and Unity are free. There is a free version of Vuforia. EyeJack Creator app is free (download onto laptop).

Jam Creative Hack Day

Saturday 28 September

Venue: CQ University, Noosa

Starts: 9.30am
Ends: 4.30pm

Get ready to test-drive your new immersive skills in a team to experiment, ideate and collaborate on an immersive project.

Immerse conference participants + additional 3D creatives who can ‘add value’ to teams (eg. tech, sound, coders, filmmakers, game developers) will come together to build an immersive Proof of Concept in one day!

Each Proof of Concept will be shared with the group near the end of the day, and receive a professional constructive critique. An opportunity for presentation at a Sunshine Coast public event in 2020 will be offered to the most resolved / appropriate work/s (including development funding).
